KIPP Chicago is the leading network of schools in Chicago, demonstrated by:
the achievements of our students and alumni, including the highest performing schools in each of our neighborhoods
consistent, steady, transformative growth
lasting partnerships with the communities, the city and the philanthropic community
According to CPS’s accountability framework for all schools—the School Quality Rating Policy—KIPP Chicago is the highest ranked elementary and middle charter school network in Chicago—a distinction held for over three years
KIPP Chicago schools are the highest rated public schools in each the communities they are located: Austin, North Lawndale, and Humboldt Park on the West Side, and Englewood on the South Side. We consequently provide our families with a high quality, college preparatory school in the communities in which they reside.
The CPS School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP) is the our district’s policy for measuring annual school performance. The ratings for the 2019-2020 school year (based on 2018-2019 data) are the sixth set of school ratings determined under SQRP.
The SQRP is a five-tiered performance system based on a broad range of indicators of success, including:
KIPP One and KIPP Academy Chicago were both named in the the September 2019 issue of Chicago magazine as two of the top public schools in the city because of their high academic achievement and attendance. They both also offer electives during the school day and a wealth of programs after school that allow students to explore what interests them.
KIPP Chicago is the only network of schools that are rated a SQRP Level 1 (KIPP Ascend) or Level 1+ (KIPP Academy, KIPP Bloom, and KIPP One) by Chicago Public Schools. Our average SQRP school also leads are networks of charter public schools in Chicago.
Similarly,KIPP Chicago scores higher than averages for all public schools (both district-managed and charter-managed public schools), schools in our neighborhoods, and schools that serve student populations similar to ours.
KIPP Chicago 8th grade alumni graduate college at more than the national rate (regardless of income or demographics), 2x the CPS rate, (again regardless of income or demographics) and 4x the rate of students from low-income communities. Our commitment to incoming kindergartners is for almost 20 years—from early childhood to college graduation.
To drive these results We partner with more than 90 colleges and universities across the country to admit and support first-generation college students from KIPP schools. KIPP College Partnership colleges and universities include Berkeley, Brown, Duke, Georgetown, Morehouse, Penn, Spelman, Ohio State, Texas, and Washington University, to name a few.
